Dr Peter Pohlner
Meeting Dr Peter Pohlner is an inspiring experience.
For his patients, meeting Dr Pohlner results in a transformation as his skilled hands offer them new life possibilities.
His day starts early and “finishes when you are satisfied with what you’ve set out to achieve in the day”.
His advice to young doctors reflects his lifelong approach and attitude “to explore the adventure of medicine because it is still an adventure”.
Dr Peter Pohlner is a man who has been inspired by his family philosophy to put humanity and community first.
When asked what he would miss most on a desert island, Dr Pohlner does not reply with any kind of creature comfort answer such as digital TV, fast cars or even a dearest family member. His response is that he would miss the privilege of performing cardiac surgery.
If he won the Lotto tomorrow, he would give away all his winnings to those who need it more than he does.
Working with extremely ill patients in the most challenging of conditions. Dr Pohlner is passionate about the difference that he can make as a cardio-thoracic surgeon because “it converts people from invalidism to normal life”.
